Puppet Developer Curriculum (3 Days)
Prerequisites:
Attendees should have at least the equivalent experience of a junior Unix/Linux administrator with some object oriented programming experience.
Topics: The course takes three days and covers the following -
Day 1: Introduction to Ruby
Day 2: Extending puppet
- Overview of API that can be used to extend Puppet
- Custom facts
- Custom functions
- Custom reporting
- External node classifiers
Day 3: Writing custom types and providers in Ruby
Sessions will mix theory and practice, balancing lectures with hands-on exercises. (Each student should bring a WiFi enabled laptop with VMWare installed to participate in the labs.)
